On Tuesday of this week, Jeff Eben, a motivational speaker, shared “How Many Wins” will you have today? What did you do better today than yesterday? Jeff Eben was a Division 1 football prospect who had a tragic water-skiing accident at age 17 that left him paralyzed from the waist down. His football coach, who showed up every day in his hospital room, and SCREAMED, “How many wins have you had today?” inspired him to have hope, acceptance and a love of life after tragedy. It is an inspiring story of relationships, hope and love. His message was well-received by our students in attendance.
Mr. Eben also spoke at our Faculty Meeting later in the afternoon, with another inspiring message for staff.
Our hard-working counselors have been meeting this week with every senior on a one-on-one basis to make sure everything is in order for them to graduate in June. If they need any last minute adjustments, now is the time they will do that. It is a tedious process, but extremely valuable and necessary.
College SPARK has started! Students are encouraged to bring their college questions to room C-4 on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3:10-4:10pm and Tuesdays at lunch. A counselor will be available to answer questions and provide college support!
EVERY week our College and Career Center hosts representatives from many colleges, both near and far. Students are able to sign up ahead of the visit to meet with these representatives, ask questions and gather information about what college opportunities are available.
Helping Hurricane Harvey Victims
Due to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, there have been schools in Texas that have lost so much athletic equipment as well as general school supplies. The CIF Southern Section has asked ALL schools to help by participating in a fundraising effort. The Coastal Canyon League (Camarillo, Moorpark, Oak Park, Simi Valley, and Royal) have adopted two of the poorest sister schools in Corpus Christi. Camarillo High School athletes will be collecting donations at the last two home football games to give back to Roy Miller and Foy Moody High Schools.
In the Classroom
Peter Wachtel’s first period CADD Design students designed this year’s award for the VC Stem Golden Gear Awards! The awards program was held this week, and below are pictures of the award they designed.
