Library for Preschoolers

Junior ACHS student Katelyn Kienitz is a Girl Scout with Troop 60981.  For her Gold Award Project, she decided to set up a library inside of our ACHS School Library for preschool children!  Katelyn participates in our Little Scorps Preschool Program and saw the need for little ones to learn to love reading.  This fun area will encourage and help young children to foster a love for reading, as well as learn Library etiquette.  Thank you, Katelyn!

Students Helping Others

ACHS students and our Scorpion Athletic Booster Club organized a fundraiser to help the Thomas Fire victims.  They reached out to Cavalia, who has been in Camarillo since November.  Cavalia allowed our students to stand outside their large show tent after three shows to collect money for their cause.  Cavalia was so kind as to announce that the students would be outside after the show holding this collection.  Almost $8,000 was raised!  Our students were surprised and pleased at the generosity shown by show patrons.   From the money raised, checks were presented to The Children’s Auxiliary Service of Ventura County and to the Humane Society of Ventura County.

Finals Week

Finals have been in full swing since Wednesday.  Students have been attending review sessions in the morning, then taking one final before lunch and one final after lunch.  Monday will be a day of “rest” for students, giving teachers time to prep for second semester.  Second semester will begin on Tuesday, January 30th.

Khan Academy Training

Our 9-11th grade Math and English teachers recently received training on Khan Academy.

Ed Services gave an introduction into using Khan Academy to prepare for the SAT based on PSAT results.  Trainers worked with teachers on the various ways to look at PSAT results.
