Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game
On Friday, February 9th, the first Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game took place on our campus. Special Education students from ACHS and RMHS took to the court, along with their coaches and mentors. The gym was packed with student, staff and parent spectators. Everyone in attendance, from the players to the spectators, had a wonderful time. During the half-time show there was a beautiful ballet performance and student spectators joined in by waving their cell phones to the rhythm of the music. There was not a dry eye in the gym between watching the game and the half-time performance. This was possibly the most moving event our campus has ever held.
We had a minimum day on Thursday so that our teachers could participate in an on-site Professional Development afternoon. They met in the Library to begin, then broke into smaller WASC discussion groups to analyze and collaborate about the data packet they received.
Junior Class Assembly
Dr. DeLeon came to our campus to hold an assembly for our Junior Class today. She met with them in the Gym to discuss the SAT that will be given to every Junior student, free of charge, on March 7th. She spoke to them about the importance of the exam, and the possibilities it provides.
Valentine’s Day Rally
ASB students put on a Valentine’s Day Rally on Wednesday. It was held on the outdoor stage during lunch. Contests, giveaways and lots of fun was had by all who participated.
