Special Education
About us
Students who qualify for special education services with specific disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, and recommendation by the district are eligible for the Visually Structured/Aut program. The VS/Aut program has a special education teacher in a self-contained class setting that is significantly smaller than a general education class setting. A variety of environmental supports are used to aid students in accessing their education, including:
- Clear and consistently followed schedules
- Individual and class visual schedules as appropriate to support for visual learning style
- Reinforcement systems
- Communication and social skills support
- Specialized instruction in settings in which ongoing interactions occur with typically developing peers and the community
The program currently includes students who can receive a Mild/Moderate Certificate of Completion.
