Adolfo Camarillo High School Weekly Update – June 1, 2018

Eagle Scout Project

This past week-end ACHS student, Parker Gregory, completed his Eagle Scout Project here on our campus. He sandblasted and painted the staff patio by the Data Room. He also brought in new furniture with an umbrella, a Ping-Pong table, and Corn Hole game.  The competitions have already begun!  This newly updated space has created great comradery and fun during break times for our staff.  A big thank you to Parker Gregory!

Counseling News

Since our counseling wing in the main office sustained major water damage several weeks ago, our counselors have been “living” in the College and Career Center.   It was crowded and they had to find other spaces to meet with parents and students.  After being out of their offices for 3 weeks, they are happy to be moving back in, with new flooring and paint.  Now the unpacking begins.  We are very grateful to all who worked so hard and fast to clean up the damage and make this wing safe and useable once again.   Below are pictures of our new flooring and new paint.

Drama Showcase

On Thursday evening of this week, Ms. Vicente and Mr. Alba’s Drama Class presented their Drama Showcase.  The acts were student-written and student-directed.  If you didn’t get a chance to attend the performance, you missed a great evening of entertainment.  The students were spectacular.

Athletics

Our Spring Sports Awards Night was held on Tuesday of this week.  Student athletes were recognized in the Gym, beginning at 7:00pm.  Many, many families came to celebrate with their students.  The teams honored that evening were Baseball, Boys’ Golf, Softball, Stunt, Boys’ Swimming, Girls’ Swimming, Boys’ Tennis, Boys’ Track & Field, Girls’ Track & Field, and Boys’ Volleyball.  After the MVP Awards were announced in the Gym, each team moved to various rooms around campus to continue with their individual awards.  It was a full and exciting evening.
