ACHS Weekly Update – November 16, 2018

Honoring Ventura County Sheriff’s Sergeant Ron Helus

On the day that Sergeant Ron Helus’ motorcade made its way from Thousand Oaks to Ventura, our students and staff sat in our football stadium to honor him one more time.   Our stadium sits facing the 101 Freeway, so we were able to view the procession while sitting in the stadium.    Students had been instructed that if they chose to attend, there would be no talking; this would be a completely silent assembly to honor and pay our respects to Sergeant Helus for his bravery and dedication to the people he served.  Our students and staff sat in silence for a little over half an hour as the procession passed by on the 101 Freeway.  Our students were extremely quiet and attentive during this assembly.

Seniors

There is a new college program for Seniors called MyTrustedAid.  Recently, our Library reserved tables for seniors to enroll in this program.  The website’s mission is to make applying to college simpler, and connect students & parents to the best financial aid opportunities available to them.  It is a great tool that will help our students and parents in this sometimes daunting process.
