COVID-19 Information

Masks

The following information can be found on the CDPH website: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/K-12-Guidance-2022-23-School-Year.aspx

Masks, particularly high-quality and well-fitting masks (PDF), remain highly effective, inexpensive, and dynamic tools to protect oneself and mitigate transmission of COVID-19 and other respiratory pathogens.

  1. Required Actions
    • No person can be prevented from wearing a mask as a condition of participation in an activity or entry into a school, unless wearing a mask would pose a safety hazard (e.g., water sports).
    • Schools must develop and implement local protocols to provide masks to students who inadvertently fail to bring a face covering to school and desire to use one.
  2. Recommended Actions
    • Unless otherwise directed by local health departments or local educational agencies, students and staff should follow CDPH masking guidance for the general public, as well was masking guidance for specific situations referenced below (e.g., when having symptoms, being infected, or exposed).

Vaccines

The definition of Fully Vaccinated has changed:

Fully vaccinated means a person has received all recommended doses in their primary series of COVID-19 vaccine.

Up to date means a person has received all recommended doses in their primary series COVID-19 vaccine, and a booster dose when eligible.

Vaccinations are recommended, including booster shots for those already vaccinated, to stop the spread of COVID-19.

To comply with state and local public health mandates, employees, walk-on coaches, and regular on campus volunteers in Oxnard Union High School must show proof of vaccination to Human Resources or show proof of a negative COVID test weekly.

There are no vaccine or COVID test mandates for students in Oxnard Union to attend school at this time.

Student Athletes in indoor sports are required to take a COVID test weekly.

On campus COVID Testing

We will be offering free PCR testing to all of our students on campus.  The testing is conducted in the room next to the ASB Bookkeeper in the Band Room.

For your test to be processed, you will need the following:

  • Insurance card

Please note that if you have already taken advantage of our onsite testing you will need to fill out this new form.  All other forms that have been submitted are obsolete.  You will not be charged for taking these tests.  If your insurance bills you please contact Mr. La Belle so he can fix that issue.

We will have testing available every Monday morning from 7:15 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. and every Thursday afternoon from 3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Substitutes

Oxnard Union continues to face shortages of substitute employees. Oxnard Union High School District is recruiting for substitutes in all job classifications.

Substitutes in all job classifications will receive a $300 bonus for each 5 sub assignments completed.

Interested candidates can apply online here:
https://www.edjoin.org/Home/Jobs?stateID=24&countyID=57&districtID=1067

In the meantime, our District Office staff and site administrators will continue to provide substitute coverage at school sites. While each site will work to avoid it, in times of severe sub shortages, some classes may need to be combined in larger spaces on each campus (such as cafeterias) to ensure that all students are supervised.
