The Governor and Cal Osha have updated the mask policy to say that students and
staff will not be mandated, but rather highly recommended, to wear masks indoors as of March
12, 2022. This includes those vaccinated as well as unvaccinated. Masking rules still apply for
those that have had a close contact.
Types of Face Coverings
- CDPH highly recommends surgical masks, KN95 masks, KF94 masks and/or N95 filtering face masks with a good fit.
- Cal/OSHA also allows tightly woven fabric or non-woven material of at least two layers (i.e., fabrics that do not let light pass through when held up to a light source).
- If gaiters are worn, they shall have two layers of fabric or be folded to make two layers.
The definition of Fully Vaccinated has changed:
Fully vaccinated means a person has received all recommended doses in their primary series of COVID-19 vaccine.
Up to date means a person has received all recommended doses in their primary series COVID-19 vaccine, and a booster dose when eligible.
Vaccinations are recommended, including booster shots for those already vaccinated, to stop the spread of COVID-19.
To comply with state and local public health mandates, employees, walk-on coaches, and regular on campus volunteers in Oxnard Union High School must show proof of vaccination to Human Resources or show proof of a negative COVID test weekly.
There are no vaccine or COVID test mandates for students in Oxnard Union to attend school at this time.
Student Athletes in indoor sports are required to take a COVID test weekly.
On campus COVID Testing
We will be offering free PCR testing to all of our students on campus. The testing is conducted in the room next to the ASB Bookkeeper in the Band Room.
For your test to be processed, you will need the following:
- Completed Patient Test Request form
- Photocopy of your ID
- Insurance card
Please note that if you have already taken advantage of our onsite testing you will need to fill out this new form. All other forms that have been submitted are obsolete. You will not be charged for taking these tests. If your insurance bills you please contact Mr. La Belle so he can fix that issue.
We will have testing available every Monday and Friday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Oxnard Union continues to face shortages of substitute employees. Oxnard Union High School District is recruiting for substitutes in all job classifications.
Substitutes in all job classifications will receive a $300 bonus for each 5 sub assignments completed.
Interested candidates can apply online here:
In the meantime, our District Office staff and site administrators will continue to provide substitute coverage at school sites. While each site will work to avoid it, in times of severe sub shortages, some classes may need to be combined in larger spaces on each campus (such as cafeterias) to ensure that all students are supervised.

Home Test Kit
Students have received test kits on Tuesday, January 11th. Each site has approximately 60 extra test kits to provide to students in emergency situations and to use for athletic retesting.
VCOE has signed up all local districts to receive the test kits offered by the Biden-Harris administration. We have not yet received a timeline on delivery for these test kits.
As soon as we receive these home test kits they will be distributed ASAP.
